Research & Creative Work

Areas of Focus

My work frequently explores artificial intelligence, instructional design, cybersecurity education, digital learning environments, human resilience, cognition, ethics, performance improvement, and human-computer interaction. Across these areas, I am particularly interested in how people develop knowledge, make decisions, and adapt within rapidly changing technological environments.

The work presented here includes research-based writing, interactive learning experiences, visual projects, and practical resources designed to make complex ideas more accessible and useful.

Featured Work

A milestone for LTEC with Lance LLC: Cyber Situational Awareness is now on the Apple App Store! 🎉

This program is a 2026–2027 State Certified Cybersecurity Training Program by the Texas Cyber Command (TXCC).

Seeing this move from an idea to a published app is something I’m proud of.

Should I AI This? helps professionals assess the risks of using generative AI for a task. It evaluates data sensitivity, organizational approval, human oversight, and potential impact, then provides a clear risk rating and practical safeguards.

The Last Archive is a seven-day narrative survival-strategy game in which players manage humanity’s failing digital record. Limited resources, system corruption, and difficult preservation decisions determine what survives and what humanity will ultimately mean.

CyberSense is an interactive cybersecurity decision trainer that helps users recognize threats, understand social-engineering tactics, and make safer choices.

Mission 20 is a social challenge app where users take on ridiculous, creative missions with one simple rule: keep it under $20. Complete the mission, prove it, compete, vote, and see who made the most out of the least.

The Future of Life Project

A creative and reflective exploration of human development, purpose, resilience, and the ways people adapt to change throughout their lives.

Introduction to Artificial Intelligence

An interactive learning experience that introduces artificial intelligence, machine learning, responsible use, and the growing role of AI in education and society.

Leadership Texarkana

This presentation was created for Leadership Texarkana as a practical exploration of artificial intelligence and its growing influence on work, education, and everyday decision-making.

The Texarkana College AI program includes separate pathways for administrators and teachers. It is also certified by the Texas Department of Information Resources.

Project Note: This course was developed as part of my work at Texarkana College and is featured here as an example of my instructional design and curriculum development experience. I am no longer employed by or representing the institution.

Connecting Research with Practice

I approach each project as both a researcher and a learning designer, using the ADDIE framework to connect theory with practical application. I begin by identifying the audience, purpose, learning needs, and intended context.

From there, I establish clear goals and use learner-centered design, backward design, multimedia learning, accessibility, and Universal Design for Learning to organize content and select the appropriate combination of text, visuals, and interaction. I then develop and refine the project through an iterative process of prototyping, feedback, revision, and evaluation.

Social & Behavioral Research Certification

My work is also shaped by connectivism, which views learning as a process of making connections across people, information, technologies, and experiences. The goal is not simply to present information, but to help users explore ideas, evaluate sources, and apply their learning in authentic contexts.

This approach allows me to translate research into practical, accessible learning experiences and resources for educators, professionals, students, and lifelong learners.
